Tanza
Tanza is a child of the Steppe's Dotharl Tribe. As such, she values strength over all else. However, due to a malady that has affected her since birth, she has always had trouble generating Aether. Tanza has trained diligently to overcome the challenges that come along with such an ailment but often wonders if she will ever be strong enough to protect those she cares about. As a brusque, stone faced introvert, she can't afford to lose any of the people she has managed to claim as hers, and will fight until her last breath to see that she doesn't.

On the inside, she is socially awkward, earnest, and a little dense.Backstory: For as long as Tanza can remember, she has never felt like she belonged. As a child in the Dotharl Tribe, she had trouble making friends with other children and the elders did not seem to like her much either. Whether her harsh attitude was the cause or the result of her treatment is a fact lost to time, at least to her. Vatii was the first person to show her kindness so she held onto him tight and never let go. His comforting presence and later that of Tazzire as well, helped her forget her situation, and she was finally able to enjoy herself. The period of time she was without him was a dark one. Lacking the comforting shield her brothers provided, the sideways glances and outright glares from her brethren returned. The hostility left her with a clear decision, even if it was not an easy one. When she came of age she left the Steppe's open, tranquil planes for the claustrophobic crowds of Gridania. She has since been reunited with her brothers, and made many new friends, which makes it all worth it, but still feels an ache for the home she misses so dearly.
Relationships
VatiiTanza's 'Toto' or older brother. Vatii has looked after and trained Tanza since she was six years old. A few years ago, Vatii left the Steppe to find their missing sister, Nylah. Tanza, not yet being of age to leave the tribe, had to stay behind. As soon as she was able, Tanza followed Vatii's trail to Gridania. Reunited with her siblings, Tanza was introduced to Vatii's new life and family. The adjustment to their situation has not been without it's bumps, but it gets easier every day.
TazzireAnother one of Tanza's Toto's, Tazzire was taken in by Vatii as well. The two misfits fought constantly as children, but would fight even harder if the other was in danger. After Vatii left, it was just the two of them for a while, but Tazzire eventually made the choice to leave as well. Tanza once again had to stay behind. After being reunited in Eorzea, the two siblings have become much closer, silly childhood rivalries snuffed out with age and somewhat maturity.
NylahTanza met Nylah when Vatii returned to the step for a short while to convince the Dotharl to join in the war effort, but had know of her much earlier. Vatii spoke of Nylah as a wise older sister and Tanza could not help but regard her as a legend growing up. When Vatii left to find her, Tanza was conflicted. She understood why Vatii needed to go, but could not help but blame Nylah for taking her family away. But then the letters started to come. Penned in beautiful script, Tanza knew they were not written by her brother. Through the letters, Tanza came to respect Nylah and even regard her with fondness for her efforts to keep her family connected.
FowlerTanza met Fowler while she was exploring the shores of La Noscea. She was wandering when she heard what sounded like the cry of an injured animal. When she investigated further, she found the miqo'te running for his life from a heard of cows. Seeing an opportunity, Tanza dispatched the beasts for their meat and leather. Fowler saw an opportunity and attached himself to the women for protection. He followed her all over Eorzea much to her distaste, constantly getting lost and provoking local wildlife. It wasn't until Tanza had a fainting spell in a dungeon and woke up to find Fowler waiting for her, not just leaving her behind, that she started to care for him. Since then their relationship has grown into something Tanza has trouble putting a name to.
YsseTanza met Ysse in Gridania mere minutes after he had stepped off the ship. Heart warmed by her recent aquisition of Fowler, Tanza took pity on the aimless Au Ra. She took him home to her brother's house where the three of them began to live together. They can often be found enjoying companionable silence in their shared library or leading a pack of unruly sell-swords through dungeons, exchanging put upon glances the whole way through.
